The Appalachian Plateau is the smallest region in Georgia, covering only two counties. However, it is certainly one of the most beautiful. It is made up of limestone, shale, and loam, creating a good environment for its hardwood forest. It is located in the TAG corner, where Tennessee, Alabama, and Georgia meet. Caves, canyons and waterfalls are frequent throughout the area. It is also the only source of fossil fuels in all of Georgia, mostly coal.
